Shacara Burrel, the visionary force behind Becoming Balanced, LLC, is a multifaceted professional with a rich background including legal advocacy, social work, & holistic well-being. Holding a dual Juris Doctor & Master's of Social Work degree from Western Michigan University and Cooley Law School, Shacara is not just a lawyer but also a compassionate social work practitioner.

Beyond professional credentials, Shacara's personal experiences as a woman of color & single mother form the heart of Becoming Balanced. She envisions a world where resilience triumphs, healing is holistic, & individuals script their narratives with empowerment.
Experience:
As a Domestic Violence Staff Attorney, Shacara has been a steadfast advocate for survivors, navigating the complex terrain of the legal & social processes. Her dedication extends to alternative schools, where she worked with disadvantaged youth & adolescents, offering support within the Kalamazoo County Jail & the Fetal Infant Mortality Review(FIMR) team related to perinatal grief & loss. Shacara's journey also includes roles in early childhood education & parenting education, enriching her understanding of diverse human experiences.
As a Certified Civil Mediator, Shacara brings a unique blend of legal insight & empathy to her practice. Her specialized experience in civil mediation & litigation positions her as a versatile professional capable of navigating various complexities.

At Becoming Balanced, Shacara seamlessly integrates therapeutic modalities such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, talk therapy & the Gottman Method.
